Coworking

Coworking is cafe-like community/collaboration space for developers, writers and independents.

Or, it's like this: start with a shared office and add cafe culture. Which is the opposite of most modern cafes. ;)

To prevent spam, we have a password on this wiki. It is coworking with the two "o"s being zeroes! (Is this still true? wasn't that the wiki-wide invite key which no longer exists? see above...)

Welcome, have a look around! The best places to get started are right below:

Hmm, maybe this page should be sorted by what places are in development and what have already been created and up and running?

What happened to the descriptors to the links in North America? They disappeared June 11. I found them helpful.

I'm new to the group and so am very hesitant to revert the page until I learn the culture. Thanks.

Hey Anthony, that's a good point -- they were removed because the descriptions were unbalanced and being used to promote individual spaces as opposed to the area in general. While it's a slight bit of inconvenience to have to click into each location separately, we felt that this was the fairest way to avoid any kind of special treatment or overt self-promotion.

My Day Office has less than 60 days until open. And I am already getting a lot of response from people wanting to book conference rooms and offices. If you live or are traveling to Seattle area, visit my page for more info on what I hope to be the Workplace of the Future. https://coworking.pbwiki.com/My%20Day%20Office

Any ideas on how to make a coworking space secure with 24/7 access?

I added the Irish Coworking links to their own section. Ireland is not part of the United Kingdom.

@Sasha, security has been discussed on the Coworking GoogleGroup, in terms of access cards and cameras and other social and physical systems -- check the archives.

Hi! I'm Leslie, I'm new here, and I'm here looking for two things: Spaces in Boston area that allow coworkers to come in and rent for a day (or a category making those easier to find, or more clear, everywhere) and tips on starting a co working space. My friend Nick is spearheading a coworking idea for the Portsmouth, NH area and getting more of us involved as well. (he is @zapnap on Twitter if people want to hit him up to help him out).

I think the Resources section needs to be above all the "local effort" listings. I've been here a few times and only now scrolled through thte miles of local pages to find these resources.

Hi - I just created CoworkingCharlottesville, but I can't figure out how to post it to the US - Eastern section. Number one, it only gives me the option of saving it to Australia, number two...it doesn't even show up there if I would want it there (I obviously don't)..Help! We'd like to join you all!

You need to just edit the front page itself to include the link to it. Don't use that drop-down bar with "Australia" in there. That is for something else.

I did a little clean-up/page IA work on the front page. Not CSS elegant (cuz I'm not that) but it gets "info" at the top of the page and "locations" below.
I also added the Twitter list page to Resources and took out some errant <ul> tags.. Are there other buried, non-linked pages we should surface?
