VIDEO FROM MAY 8th OPEN HOUSE
We had an open house when we got the space first up and running, and Breet from a local Web Designers Meet-up Group stopped by and shot a short video clip. You can see it at the following link. Hopefully will post more pics and video soon from the current state of the office.

Alchemical Spaces Co-Working Office for Social Entrepreneurship
Free cooperative desk and office space now available on Near Westside
The Alchemical Nursery, Syracuse 501(c)3 nonprofit working for "Regenerative Urban Lifestyles & Landscapes", has announced the opening of its "Alchemical Spaces Co-Working Office for Social Entrepreneurship" within the Gear Factory studio warehouse at 200 South Geddes St on the Near Westside of Syracuse, NY.
Co-Working is the gathering of a group of people, who are working independently while sharing values, and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with talented people in the same space. Many times, co-workers are from the world of the self-employed; freelancers who have taken to working from home or the coffee shop, and would like more of the social interaction that a working office provides.
In the case of "Alchemical Spaces" our goal is to bring together people in need of this type of working situation, and to focus on those that are developing social entrepreneurial projects, using business knowledge and acumen for the betterment of the social good.
In addition, developing resources specific to social entrepreneurs and advancing knowledge of this working movement within Syracuse.
Co-working also enables the sharing of resources and expenses that benefits the bottom line of the workers involved. Individual desks are located in a shared room, with shared office equipment such as a printer and supplies provided by the Alchemical Nursery. Workers also have access to a conference room for meeting clients or holding meetings, a community kitchen and bathroom, and common space within the Gear Factory for stretching their legs and participating in the wider community. The space will be open to "Associates" 24/7, with free wireless Internet also included. There will also be opportunities to take part in numerous social and networking events through The Gear Factory and The Alchemical Nursery.
Thanks to support from the Gifford Foundation in Syracuse and its mission "to build the capacity of individuals and organizations to enhance the quality of life for the people of Central New York", free desk space and office use will be available to social entrepreneurs for up to ten months beginning July 1st. To be eligible, co-workers must be involved in social entrepreneurial endeavors, and be interested in working within a shared office space environment. Use of the space is valued at $250 per month to the "Associate", costs covered by The Alchemical Nursery. Value of the cooperative Co-Working aspects of the space are priceless.
Other benefits include free off-street parking, indoor bicycle parking, tax deduction for travel from primary home office, extra filing cabinet and shelving space for storage, reading and reference library on-site, adjacent to Lipe Art Park, free email address available @alchemicalnursery.org, CENTRO bus stop only one block away.
For more information and to apply to the space, please contact Alchemical Nursery Co-Founder Frank Raymond Cetera at 315.380.6161 or \n frcetera@alchemicalnursery.org
WINTER 2009
At the moment, an idea to be put into action here in Syracuse. Catalyzed by the Alchemical Nursery Project.
Our current plan is to acquire a shared space at the Gear Factory artists' studio warehouse. We are looking to share the space with 5-7 other co-workers, depedning on the amount of space available after we acquire summer interns and youth workers for our various programs. We have in mind a monthly fee of $50 - $75 with the following amenities:
- Synergistic working space for
- freelancers, programming/coding, writers, website development, non-profit development, and all cultural creatives
- Be a part of the growing and developing Gear Factory community
- Wi-Fi Internet Access
- Conference Room use
- Kitchen facilities (save money over working at a cafe by making your own coffee and tea)
- Bathroom w/ shower on-site
- Indoor bicycle parking
- B&W printing
- Year Round Indoor De-stressing Space
- Filing cabinet space for storing documents
- Reading and resource library
- Lipe Art Park next door for stretching your legs or a lunch picnic outside
- Free email address available @alchemicalnursery.org
- Ample free off-street parking
- Lounge area, with couches!
- Social Events
Would love to hear any comments or thoughts, or from anyone in Syracuse who would like to be a part of our shared co-working space.
