Fishburners 110 coworking spaces in Ultimo and Oxford Street, Darlinghurst

GradConnection with the help and backing of PayPal investor, Peter Davison are expanding our Headquarters in Sydney CBD, in a move to develop and foster the entrepreneurial community.

FISHBURNERS IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANISATION RUN BY ENTREPRENEURS FOR ENTREPRENEURS.

Apply at http://fishburners.org/membership-options/  for Ultimo at $69 per week

Apply at http://tinyurl.com/FishburnersOxfordStreet for Darlinghurst  at $80 per week

320 square meters, 70 desks, a boardroom, a breakout room, a bar fridge, maybe two, access to a shower, a foosball table, some couches, security and NO equity splits, ongoing fees or anything of the like – simply a large space filled with high-growth tech start-ups. Service providers and support organisations have also offered to help out with discounts, webhosting, outsourced development.

We are not an incubator. We are not an institution.

We are a marketplace for ideas, skills and support. We want to provide an environment of support and cooperation, between all the companies involved.

The project is a not-for-profit exercise which means rent is only $300 per month (or $69 per week) plus GST per desk (includes everything). Any surplus funds at the end of each half will be re-invested back into the office space or into a party (probably both).

Some of the companies already involved include :

GradConnection: Australia’s largest online job-board for Graduates (ahead of Career One and Seek)

GoCatch : Winners of the Tech23.com competition. Revolutionising the local taxi industry.

JayRide : A marketplace for carpool sharing

Mobeseek : A mobile advertising platform

ClickPR : An online PR agency with several high profile clients

99Dresses: A wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear? 99Dresses provides an infinite wardrobe of free fashion, allowing ladies to exchange dresses online.

OrionVM: A high growth Australian company providing Scalable Elastic Cloud Computing solutions.

The Name: FishBurners

One of the First Fleet of ships taking convicts to Australian shores was called "Fishburn". It was the biggest of the supply ships for the First Fleet. The Fishburn provided the necessary resources to startup the first community in Australia.

We see this project as a fleet of entrepreneurs on a voyage to a new land, all of us helping to foster a community of like-minded people moving toward a common objective.

The Application

Your answers to the application will give us an indication as to how our community might fit with you and your team. We will gradually be inviting people to meet us for a chat and rolling out invitations over time. A deposit for the two month's rent will guarantee your desks.

Apply at http://fishburners.org/membership-options/  for Ultimo

Apply at http://tinyurl.com/FishburnersOxfordStreet for Darlinghurst

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Peter, Matt, Dave, Mike, Peter and Pandora for the Fishburners team

Got Space?

Riley St, Sydney

We're looking at some space in Riley St Sydney. Probably some room for renting a single desk permanently (x3?) and some drop-in space too. Let us know if you're interested.

Need Space?

I'm searching for coworking space in Sydney CBD or West Sydney.

If you know of an existing space please add it here.

Otherwise if you are interested in participating in a co-working space in Sydney, please e-mail andy.yh.lam(at)gmail.com

Coworking Models

1. Multi Flavour

Get a company to rent an office with some extra space.

Occasional drop ins are $10 for the day.

You can rent a permanent desk for $350 a month.

2. Sponsored

Get some bigger companies to chip in some money.

In return they get to hear from startups the latest news, etc.

They can also leave info there about jobs going etc.

3. Form a cooperative or trust.

Members contribute to a fund used to purchase a property and fit it out.

Trust/coop might operate either as a for-profit or non-profit.

The coop members might profit-share if its a for-profit enterprise.

Potentially a trust could do a better job of balancing risks. Can't be kicked out by a landlord or have the property you've paid to fit out sold from underneath you.

Coop could become the hub for yet another industry organisation ;-) or the new home for an existing one.

If the coop was profitable, it could potentially offer loans and other assistance to members.
