What is Citizen Space?

We take the best elements of a coffee shop (social, energetic and, yes, coffee) and the best elements of a workspace (productive, functional) and combine them to give indie workers the chance to have their own affordable space. It’s a place to collaborate. Get creative. Inspire a fellow entrepreneur. Make business deals. Meet new people. And even get some work done.

Citizen Space is a coworking space. What that means is Citizen Space isn’t just another ‘rent a desk’ type of place. This space (and the idea of coworking) is built on the following values:

• Collaboration: One of the great benefits of working in a coworking space is that you will meet all sorts of people with all sorts of knowledge.
• Openness: We believe in transparency and openness. In a world where people are free, but ideas are not, only a few benefit. When ideas are free, everyone benefits. Therefore, we encourage open spaces and discussions. Sorry, no NDAs allowed.
• Community: We thrive on connections and mutual support here. It is important that everyone give into as well as benefit from the strong (international) community coworking has become.
• Accessibility: In order to be fully open, we must make the effort to be accessible to all. This means that we endeavor to create both a financially and a physically accessible space. We are committed to this principle and welcome feedback on how we can make it even more accessible.

Semantic Seed

About

Semantic Seed was established in 2008 by the founders of Urban Technology Ventures and Breakthrough Ventures who at the time saw an opportunity to aid first time entrepreneurs struggling to find funding from angel investors and venture capitalist to hatch ideas. Semantic Seed is a special kind of "hybrid" of co-working and idea acceleration that cares more about helping “Smart, and Good People” than your resume credentials and your business plan.

The Labs mission is to become a catalyst for early stage companies to graduate into venture capital ready companies. Start-ups and entrepreneurs can capitalize on the experience, skills and networks that Semantic Seed can provide to streamline development and accelerate commercialization of ideas.

     NextSpace San Jose provides the innovative space, infrastructure and community to help freelancers, small businesses, and others interested in an      alternative, collaborative workspace to thrive.  The San Jose location opened in June 2011.  All industries are welcome here as believe that a varied and      robust community brings the most value to our members!  

     We're stoked to be in the heart of downtown San Jose at the corner of 2nd and San Fernando Streets, in an amazing turn-of-the-century building.  Our      community is taking shape and we invite you to participate in it, either as a day pass member, a longer term member, or one of those lucky souls that          gets a coveted office.   We're already seeing the NextSpace effect take place as members gather together to get and give advice, referrals, and collaborate.
