Quick background on the workspace and the area:
The Cascade District, home of Coworking Rochester, was like much of Rochester in the 19th century: a manufacturing area with blocks full of factories and warehouses. Before the construction of I-490 and the Inner Loop, the area was adjacent to the historic Corn Hill neighborhood, where many of the business owners lived. A few of these houses remain, and can be found in the neighborhoods surrounding the office building.
During the 1960’s, many buildings were torn down in the name of “urban renewal,” making way for parking and new construction, while others simply remained vacant. It wasn’t until the 1990s that the value of these buildings, with their exposed brick, high ceilings and expansive spaces, caught the attention of real estate developers.
The successful renewing of the Knowlton Building by the Loftus brothers in the 1990’s, located across the street from the Cascade Building, changed the future of the entire, then-desolate corner of downtown. The Knowlton Building demonstrated that there was a market for high-end, residential and commercial development in Rochester’s west end. This success drew many other development proposals for the remaining buildings. This included the plan for residential and office space in the Art-Craft Optical Building, overlooking Rochester’s Frontier Field.
The Cascade Building fronts on both Cascade Drive and Washington Street, and houses an unusual blend of artists, manufacturers and high tech tenants. In 2007, three new enormous, state-of-the-art loft units, were carved into the Cascade Building by Loftus Construction, including high-tech wiring and an abundance of natural light. In addition, later that fall, renovation began on the Coworking Rochester space.
A huge freight elevator, heated basement garage, and a central location with easy access to a number of downtown Rochester’s finest locations, have all added to the Cascade Building’s appeal.

- Ample Parking – Parking space is always at a premium in downtown Rochester, but we’ve got two large lots providing parking space to all of our members and visitors, at no charge.
Unlimited Monthly Membership – $135/month (approx. 33% off Daily price)
All of the Daily Membership amenities, plus:
- Mail Delivery – We welcome you to use our address for your business mail, whether by USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL. Mail is checked once a day, and deposited in a public box for convenient pickup during our business hours. Our building also has several truck-capable loading docks plus a freight elevator available should you need equipment delivered.
- Storage Lockers – Use our storage lockers to keep your business related materials, or just for your personal belongings during the day.
- Social Events – Your Monthly Membership also gives you access to our Social Events, such as special guest speakers, movie nights, wine tastings, and a variety of other get-togethers! We also encourage you to host their own events, or suggest new activities.
- 3 FREE Daily Membership passes (for Unlimited Members only) – We won't charge you anything to schedule a meeting with your clients here (in fact we encourage it) but should you need to bring in partners or other co-workers on a regular basis these can help offset that cost.
