Coworking spaces are intentional communities—they can have any rules the group wants. Generally, the best policies are clear about the goals and the process for evaluating and dealing with violators. Specific policies banning kids, pets, paper airplanes, etc become difficult to administer and resolve. One solution is to have a goal that disruptions of any kind are not tolerated. This, then, covers overly fractious pets, children, coworkers, their friends, repeated loud phone conversations, continual obnoxious complaining, etc., etc. The process and results of resolving complaints needs to be explicit, e.g. talk to the people on the lease or the steering committee and then they make a decision and let everyone know the resolution.
