I (Paul Robinson) am interested in setting up a co-working base in the centre of Manchester. I've found a possible site about 5 minutes from Piccadilly on the edge of the Manchester University Northern campus that I'm investigating. It's a great space, with plenty of natural light and is an almost blank space to work on.

Interested?

I have just created a Google Group that will be starting to get busy over the next day or two over at http://groups.google.com/group/co-working-manchester

Please feel free to join in.

UPDATE: August, 2008

The Manchester Co-Working Co Op is now closer to being formed, following the proactive efforts of Ben Gibbs (Bobop) and Paul Robinson (Vagueware).

A name was confirmed at the last Manchester Co-Working Day - FlyThe.Coop

FlyTheCoop has been covered by CRAIN'S here: http://www.crainsmanchesterbusiness.co.uk/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080821/FREE/877425/-1/breaking/-/-/-co-working-area-set-up-at-manchester-science-park

We have been featured in the press @ http://www.ukspa.org.uk/news/msp-co-working

It has an outline of our aims for a series of spaces in Manchester for co-working, and potential collaboration with other co-working groups in other cities.

A basic holding website has been created by Ben whilst the forms are processed for the creation of the co-op.

This is now at : http://www.flythecoop.co.uk

Contact details are on the page should you wish to have a chat about joining in.

Pier Paolo Mucelli:I can see a lot of old posting, somehow coworking has not caught up in Manchester. In the meantime Manoj, good to see that you are using eOffice Manchester, the only shared space in the city.
Anonymous:Im guessing the extra is in decorating, purchasing equipment and furniture etc at the start, if a cheaper long term rent is what people are after ? Im thinking great idea and wondering if a mix of OpenDoor and OpenPlan is a possibility.
