Coworking Loft in Ravenswood is open!

Our Ravenswood space is an informal, open floorplan office for the mobile workforce.  Our goal is to provide an alternative to working at home or other less congenial spaces (cubefarm, cafe, etc).    The loft in its initial incarnation will be small-scale: we are seeking several more people to join us. (update: we have 1 dedicated desk left, and 4 floater spaces remaining)

About the neighborhood

The building is located at 1807 W. Sunnyside in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood (Google Map).   The Montrose Brown Line station is 1 block south (note: use the nearby Damen stop until December when the Montrose stop reopens).  The Metra Ravenswood station is three blocks north.   We are thus multi-homed to the Loop and various other northside neighborhoods.

Montrose Avenue has a good selection of restaurants and cafes to help break up the work day.  Or walk a 1/2 mile west to bustling Lincoln Square.

About the loft

The space will have the following features:

  • Workspaces.  That is the point, isn't it?  We will have individual desks and group work tables.  There are no partitions, so if you need a hermetically sealed environment to get work done then we are probably not for you. To that end, we are not properly setup for coworkers who have a professional or personal need to make large amounts of noise.
  • Kitchenette.  You don't need to run out to the nearby Starbucks for your coffee fix.  We've installed a coffee maker and microwave in the kitchenette to complement the fridge.
  • Air-conditioning
  • 24-hour access.
  • Internet access.  WiFi and a few ethernet ports scattered about.
  • Balcony and rooftop deck (for the smokers or just to relax)
  • Windows.  We have a lovely bank of windows running the length of our south wall providing nice natural light.

Membership

The space is not for profit.  So the membership costs are simply to share the rent and utilities more or less equally amongst ourselves.  All memberships will have access to the space and the above amenities.  We do plan on having two memberships: dedicated and floater.  Dedicated members will have a reserved desk for their personal use.  Floaters will have access to shared desks and are expected to remove their belongings upon leaving.

Provisionally speaking, we will be charging $300/mo for a dedicated membership and $165/mo for a floater membership. Lease terms require 1st month fee + security deposit, and a minimum 3-month term.
